[edit] What are spamposts or bad posts?
Dictionary.com defines spam as "To post irrelevant or inappropriate messages."
However, since these definitions usually deal with e-mail and other advertisements, there may be some misunderstanding in OUR definition. We have taken this term and broken it down into two.
Commercial Spam:
To us, commercial spam includes advertising to other websites and intention to sell products on our forum. Depending on the circmstances when you post the spam message, it may be overlooked if it was relevant to the topic being discussed at the time.
For Example: When someone talks about the different space agencies around the world in a discussion thread and wanted to know about other URLs for Space Agencies, these types of URL are okay. However, when the user posts messages like "VISIT THIS PAGE", or "I HAVE THIS FOR SALE" then it will not be overlooked and you will be reprimanded for your actions.
General Spam:
This is the more frequent type of spamming that could be found in any forum. This includes short messages that do not hold any 'beef', it is discouraged for members to post this way because it stops discussions and do not hold the opinion of the user. AF encourages people to post messages that holds their opinion and the user reiterates what they want to say. Useless, Stupid topics and irrelevant posts will be deleted and the user notified of their actions.
The following are examples of Spam: " Cool!! I think so too! I (dis)agree! HHAHAH, this is FUNNY!! STUPID!!" So basically a good satisfactory post or u may refer as REPLY is: answer + reason to support it (ex: ,because...)
The only place where spamming is allowed is the Chillin Lounge Room, so spam there all you like.
But not all singleliners are considered spam, there also tricky ones. And for those, it really depends on the experience of the mod to make a fair judgement if they're spam or not and the chosen action will also defers depending on the judgement.
For instance, posts which are offtopic or does not contribute to the discussion at all and is clearly made by the poster without even reading the topic. This is especially of importance for the considered more serious forums like War Of The Words. We can decide to split the posts into the discussion topic and a chattopic, but we could also just delete those off-topic remarks.
But also, posts that, although answering the topic, but didn't contribute at all because no personal opinions or arguments were given. These are often the "listing"-topics as we call them. Depending on the state of the topic (has it developped some discussion ground) we will decide wether just to weed it out or move it alltogether to the chatforum.
So all in all, there is no specific answer. Short, useless posts are almost 99% considered spam, but longer sentences might also be considered as the same level too.
